As technological advancements inundate American society with constant information, continual campaigning allows politicians to remain consistently in the public eye.

In addition to the need to remain in the public eye and appeal to interest groups, politicians can no longer rely solely on their political parties to maintain their standing in the polls.

Because candidates have unlimited opportunities to run for various offices, those who are defeated are statistically more likely to continue running in subsequent elections until they win.

Because fewer bipartisan bills are passed in Congress, legislators spend less time writing and negotiating legislation and instead devote that time to the campaign trail.

Political parties expect their politicians to campaign continually in order to spread a consistent platform message and appeal to core voters.
